As humans, we want to walk on the sky. Only we can’t. What we can do, instead, is walk on five layers of transparent glass above a chasm at the western edge of the Grand Canyon …

The knee-weakening Grand Canyon Skywalk was built on the Hualapai Indians’ reservation in Northwestern Arizona in 2007 for about $30 million, according to NYT. Since then it’s become a popular Grand Canyon attraction, raking in a fair amount of needed dough for the struggling Hualapai tribe. The cost for a “tour” of the skywalk isn’t cheap — $73 dollars — but experiencing this perch is something you won’t soon forget. You’ll slip on booties — so your shoes don’t scratch the glass — and saunter (or crawl, depending on your attitude about heights) out onto the horse-shoe shaped walk, which juts out 70 feet (21 meters) from the rim. If you want, you can experience what it’s like to lie on the sky by getting down on your belly and pressing your face to the glass. There are thousands of feet between your cheek and the canyon floor, friend.

See, here’s actor Dennis Hopper on the skywalk …
